The Honors Program’s effectuality is the sum of its staff’s contributions, and playing a significant role is Amy Piatkiewicz, who is this year’s recipient of the Part-time Employee Service Award.
“I was definitely surprised to find out I had been nominated; it never occurred to me I might be nominated. I am even more surprised and excited to receive this honor,” Piatkiewicz said. “I am fortunate to work in the Honors Program, and receiving this award for the opportunity to interact with such awesome students and co-workers every day is something I am so proud of.”
Piatkiewicz is said to be the mainstay in the department. “Without Amy’s extreme dedication to the students, faculty, department and college, we would not be nearly as successful as we are. She’s the backbone of the program,” said her nominator.
She’s the smiling face visitors see first, and her organizational skills are deemed second to none. “Amy welcomes every person warmly, and is always willing and able to provide valuable and useful information. People are extremely complimentary of her professionalism and excellent work.”
Piatkiewicz works with multiple departments and faculty to schedule Honors Program workshops and events, and with vendors to assist in organizing off-campus field trips, orders and everything else being planned for the program. She is flexible in her work schedule and doesn’t hesitate when asked to stay late to complete a project. She also is quick to contribute ideas, which her supervisor says are invaluable. “There isn’t a day that goes by that I do not ask for her opinion on something we have going on,” her nominator said.
“She is extremely organized and reliable. And, she’s the best proofreader I know! The Honors Program is definitely in a better place because we have her working with us.”
