Participants will begin their academic instruction at Moraine Valley, and then will travel as a group to Athens, Greece, toward the end of week one. The participants and instructor will travel together for a total of 14 days before returning to complete final course assignments. While in Athens, participants will be hosted by the American College of Greece (ACG). Moraine Valley will contract with ACG to provide transportation, lodging, some meals, internet/library, guest speakers, classroom space and booking of excursions. There are five excursions: Acropolis, Olympia, Delphi and two islands.

Meet in Person: Two class meetings before the trip will be scheduled in April and May.
Mandatory Travel to Greece: Approximately May 21-June 7, 2025
Cost
$3000-3500 trip fee—Trip fee includes: insurance, transportation to/from the Athens airport, lodging, some meals, academic lectures, five different excursions, a service learning experience, travel insurance, and an incremental cost to cover the faculty member’s travel.
$500 deposit needs to be made by Feb.15. If that is not possible, contact Merri to work something out. Applications may still be accepted if there is room. Students may need to pay the entire cost of the trip upfront after Feb. 15.
Not included in this cost: airfare, passport fees, visa fees, entry/exit fees, money for personal spending, and meals not provided as part of the program. All participants must have a valid U.S. passport.
Steps to Sign Up:
- Complete the Greece Study Abroad application and submit it to Merri Fefles-Dunkle via email at fefles@morainevalley.edu.
- Once application is approved, Registration will contact you to complete enrollment in SSC-101-601.
- Course tuition and fees are due at the time of registration. Instructions will be provided for paying the study abroad trip fees.
