Nearly half of our students are adult learners at Moraine Valley Community College. Our faculty members understand the many responsibilities and obligations adults have and do their best to make everyone comfortable. Starting college is a huge step—and we are here to help every step of the way.

Adult Student Resources
Get Credit for What You Already Know
You are recognized and rewarded for what you know, no matter how or where you learned it. CLEP can help you get the college credits you need in order to reach your educational goals more quickly. Moraine Valley is an open test site and offers all 33 CLEP exams to both students and the community at large.
Proficiency credits are awarded to Moraine Valley students who have taken vocational or noncredit training and can document that training through certificates or test results. It is intended to help students achieve their degree goals without repeating material they have already learned.
Achieved Prior Learning (APL)
Achieved Prior Learning (APL) is a way to earn credit at Moraine Valley for what you already know from prior learning or work experience. It is designed to help students at Moraine Valley obtain college credit without repeating material. Faculty members assess your knowledge through written examinations, interviews and performance tests.
