Students can expect to receive several services at the Southwest Education Center. Among the services we offer are enrollment assistance to help begin the admissions process and financial aid assistance. We will also help with completing your FAFSA online and offer advising assistance. You can also get help determining your classes needed to complete a degree and/or certificate, get help planning for future classes and get help transferring to your next college.

Among the services offered are:

Enrollment Assistance to complete your online application, get information on academic programs of interest and review program information and review steps needed for registration. Financial Aid Assistance to assist students with completing the FAFSA online and adding MVCC school code, explain financial aid process and review types of aid available, show students how to access their verification paperwork via their student email. We offer financial aid workshops to encourage early completion of the FAFSA in addition to providing verification paperwork when it is not accessible online and help students to submit completed paperwork via interoffice mail, help students verify that paperwork has been received by the financial aid office and help students to access their award letters via the student portal.

Class Scheduling/Academic Planning Assistance to help students plan for current and future classes review career and transfer programs by consulting with an Academic Advisor to assist in degree audit, utilize online advising tools such as the educational planning guide and career program sheets and guide students regarding the process of schedule changes, dropping and/or withdrawing from classes. Registration Assistance to review the MVConnect Student Portal to ensure students know their user ID and password and help them access their student email and retrieve any necessary information. We also assist students with searching, registering and paying for classes online, provide assistance to students who would like to register on the phone with a registration representative. Virtual Writing Center

The Virtual Writing Center at Moraine Valley’s Southwest Education Center provides students access to a computer and phone in order to call the main campus Writing Center and take advantage of the services without leaving the Southwest Center and traveling to the main campus. Please see the front desk for assistance in meeting with a virtual writing tutor. Students can walk right in – no appointment necessary. Hours (Room 106) Mon.-Thurs.: noon-6 p.m.
