Discover the Career That Fits You

Choosing a career path doesn’t mean you are planning for the rest of your life; it’s only about identifying the next best step. Whether you are a prospective student, an undecided student, a returning adult considering a career change, or a professional looking to reskill or upskill your skillset, this page will help you explore your interests and connect them to Moraine Valley programs that prepare you for your future goals.

In just three steps you can:

  1. Take a short career interest assessment.
After completing the assessment, return to the Job Resource Center website to enter your results and explore Moraine Valley certificates and degrees.
  2. Review your results and connect them to MVCC programs.
  3. Take action with Admissions (prospective/new students) or Advising/Career Counseling (current students).

Step 1: Take the Career Interest Assessment

The O*NET Interest Profiler is a free online tool that helps you identify your career interests and connect them to possible occupations. It only takes 5–10 minutes to complete 60 quick questions. Once you complete the assessment, return to the Job Resource Center website to enter your results and search Moraine Valley certificates and degrees.

  • Learn more about what you enjoy doing.
  • Discover which career areas may be most satisfying and rewarding.
  • Begin exploring programs that align with your career goals.

Step 2: Review Your Results & Connect to Moraine Valley Programs

When you finish the assessment, you’ll receive a set of scores. Each score represents how strongly you align with a career interest area.

How to identify your Holland Codes:

  • The highest score = your Primary code
  • The second-highest score = your Secondary code
  • The third-highest score = your Tertiary code

Be sure to write down your Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary codes before continuing.
