Meet Our Teachers and Staff

Tahany Elian, A. A.
Music and Motor Facilitator
Tahany has over twenty years of experience in early childhood education. Tahany joined the Children’s Learning Center in 2016. She is a member of the South Suburban Association for the Education of Young Children.

Denise Lumpkin, B.A., M.Ed.
Director and adjunct Child Development instructor at Moraine Valley
Denise has been with the center since 2002 and has been working in the early education field since 1990. She is a member of the South Suburban Association for the Education of Young Children.

Annette Herbert, B.A., Illinois Director Credential Level II
Coordinator of Learning
Annette has been with the Children’s Learning Center since 1980. She serves as an officer for the South Suburban Association for the Education of Young Children, and as a professional development advisor for Illinois Gateways to Opportunity, a statewide professional development system.

Sylvia James, A.S., Paraprofessional Certificate
Child Care facilitator for 2-year-old class
Sylvia began working at the Children’s Learning Center in 2012 and has been in the early education field for more than five years. She is a member of the South Suburban Association for the Education of Young Children.

Carol Kackert, A.S.
Child Care facilitator for 3- and 4-year-old class
Carol’s career at the Children’s Learning Center began in 1979. She is the coordinator of children’s concerts at the Children’s Learning Center and serves as a board and committee member of the South Suburban Association for the Education of Young Children

Dawn Mallder, A.S.
Child Care facilitator for 2-year-old class
Dawn has been working in the early education field since 1996, starting her career at the Children’s Learning Center in 2003. She is a member of the South Suburban Association for the Education of Young Children.

Karin Schmidtke, A.A.
Child Care facilitator for 5-year-old class
Karen has been working at the Children’s Learning Center since 1984. She is a member of the South Suburban Association for the Education of Young Children.

Arrilla Wray, A.A.
Child Care facilitator for 3- and 4-year-old class
Arrilla has been employed with the Children’s Learning Center since 2008. She is pursuing her bachelor’s degree and is a member of the South Suburban Association for the Education of Young Children.
