Justin George understands the importance of good role models. Between his parents, teachers and coaches, he’s had some great mentors to follow, and now he wants to lead by example.

He’s decided to major in education and wants to become a teacher—preferably teaching history or English in middle school or above. “I like being around kids. My family keeps telling me I’m so good with my younger siblings and cousins that I should be a teacher. So, I’ve decided that’s the career I’m going to follow,” Justin said.

A cross country runner since high school, Justin said athletics was a huge influence in his decision to attend Moraine Valley. “My high school cross country coach got an email from Coach Dimitri (Dimizas) about me coming to Moraine Valley. I decided it would be a great idea to run cross country at Moraine and save some money.”

Justin’s been doing well—one of the top seven runners on the team last year—and is happy with his choice to attend Moraine Valley. He plans to transfer to a four-year university to complete his degree in education and looks forward to teaching as well as coaching.

“Coaching is another form of teaching. I always looked up to my coaches, and I’d like to be the one the kids look up to,” he said.
