Jeff Micetic came to Moraine Valley because he was ready for a career change, and he knew he wanted to do something with technology.

“I like learning how everything works and gaining varied knowledge that will make me more employable,” Jeff said about the Automation and Engineering Technology A.A.S. degree he is pursuing.

The program incorporates mechanical design, CAD, electronics, robotics, computer networking and information security into a unique degree program. The broad education Jeff and other students receive prepares them for many of the fastest-growing technology industries.

“There are so many advancements, and it really seems like there’s going to be a lot of opportunities as far as jobs are concerned,” he says.

He does admit he was a bit nervous about coming back to school as an adult student.

“Maybe I was too old. I wouldn’t catch on. Or it would be too difficult, and my grades would suffer.”

But Jeff says with the supportive faculty and flexible schedules, he’s been able to make it work.

“Actually, after taking the plunge, I’ve been quite successful academically,” he says.
