Jana’ Sullivan has some pretty big plans for her life. Not only is she trying to reach for the stars—she’s looking to be one.
On top of her aspirations to become an actress and a producer, she plans to receive her master’s degree in industrial psychology and start her own clinic to help those struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and substance abuse. She also wants to merge her psychology skills to help celebrities who are dealing with mental health issues.
Jana’ chose to start her education at Moraine Valley for several reasons: a great curriculum, positive energy among students and faculty members, and the availability of the outstanding resources for students. She’s also thankful for the Moraine Valley Foundation scholarships she’s received to help offset tuition costs.
“Being able to receive support to continue my education means the entire world to me. Words could never fully explain how much I appreciate a total stranger believing in future goals and accomplishments,” she said. In return, she said she will make her donors very proud. “My donors have given me the chance to not only reach for the stars but to actually catch one and shake hands with the moon.”
Jana’ is a standout in the classroom, having been initiated into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and hopes to be a standout one day on the big screen and behind the scenes. When she’s not in class, she’s walking the runway in fashion shows, acting in stage plays, independent films and as one of the lead characters in “Juke,” a series about Chicago in its eighth season on YouTube. She’s also done behind-the-scenes work on the productions of “Empire,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago PD,” “The Chi,” “Redline” and several Netflix series.
Her red hair? She keeps it that color to make her stand out from the rest. “Red is my favorite color. It attracts attention because it’s vivid and it stands out, and that’s what I want to do,” she said.
