For student Noah Baker, a key strength of the Criminal Justice Program at Moraine Valley is the real-world experience instructors bring to the classroom.
“Something that stuck out for me is the fact that every single one of my teachers is currently in law enforcement or has been in law enforcement. It’s not like at some other schools where you might have instructors teaching something they’ve never actually practiced themselves,” Noah said.
The instructors’ firsthand experience in law enforcement, coupled with their willingness to offer additional support as needed, is a winning combination for students like Noah who are pursuing a career in law enforcement.
“When I was in high school, I really didn’t know where I wanted to go. My counselor recommended Moraine Valley because of the opportunities it offers, as well as how it’s close to home and how affordable it is. I always knew I wanted to do something that helped people, so I chose Criminal Justice because, after all the things I was seeing on social media about law enforcement, I wanted to get more insight and another perspective,” Noah explained. He shared that one day, he hopes to pursue a career in crime scene investigation.
Noah plans to take additional courses and transfer to Lewis University to complete his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
