Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) III

American Rescue Plan Act (ARP), 2021

Fall 2021

Dear FIRST.NAME ,

Moraine Valley Community College (MVCC) has received funds from the federal government through the American Rescue Plan Act, 2021 to help students offset expenses related to the coronavirus. Not all students who apply will receive funding; ARP Act, 2021 requires institutions to prioritize students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell grants. You may only submit an application once. Incomplete forms will not be processed. Please complete this application by December 10, 2021.

A flat rate of $1,000 will be awarded to eligible students who complete an application.

Prioritization of funds will be allocated to currently enrolled students based on the following:

  1. All Pell eligible students and students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $12,000 or less,
  2. All students who have completed FAFSA/Rise Act
  3. All fall 2021 students enrolled as of September 21, 2021, excluding dual credit, Corporate, Community and Continuing Education students, and employees and their dependents.

You may use the funds for expenses related to the coronavirus.  These might include paying for current tuition balance, food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and childcare.  Because funding is limited, awards will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are eligible for the ARP HEERF III funds, complete and submit the application by clicking (here)

The ARP HEERF III funds may be used to pay students’ current tuition balance. If you would like MVCC to apply your HEERF III funds to your student tuition account, please agree to the authorization on the application. If funds remain after HEERF III funds are awarded to your student tuition balance, you may receive your remaining funds via direct deposit. This is the quickest option to receive your funds.  If not already enrolled, you can enroll for direct deposit here: <https://mvconnect.morainevalley.edu/faculty/Pages/WebAdvisor.aspx?title=Bank+Information+(U.S.)&pid=ST-WBCOS015A> .  If you are not enrolled for direct deposit, you will be mailed a paper check to the address on your student account, which may significantly delay delivery of your funds.

If you do not meet the priority groups outlined above, the following resources are available:

  • The Moraine Valley Community College Foundation. These scholarships, which are privately funded, are available for the fall 2021 and spring 2022 semesters and range from $500 to $5,000. Students can apply here.

We have developed an FAQ on this funding through the ARP HEERF III funds here << https://www.morainevalley.edu/right-to-know/higher-education-emergency-relief-fund/relief-fund-faqs/>>
