Moraine Valley Community College (MVCC) received its Grant Award Notice on May 11, 2021, and was not required by the U.S. Department of Education to sign and return the Certification and Agreement document. The current Certification and Agreement document on file serves as confirmation that the college is in good standing with the Department. MVCC agrees to use no less than 50 percent of these funds to provide emergency financial aid grants to students.

As of June 30, 2021, the end of the 2nd Quarter, the total of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under American Rescue Plan Act (HEERF III) is $184,256. The college over awarded the emergency financial aid grants under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriation Act (HEERF II) in the 2nd Quarter and used HEERF III to cover the expenditures.

At the end of the 1st Quarter, 118 students received the Emergency Financial Aid Grant under Section 2004 (a)(1), (a)(4) HEERF III (ARP) totaling $184,256.

As stated in Question #3, the college over awarded the emergency financial aid grants under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriation Act (HEERF II) in the 2nd Quarter and used HEERF III to cover the expenditures. Below is the eligibility criteria used to award students during the 2nd Quarter:
The College has prioritized students with exceptional needs into three groups:
Priority Group One- Application Deadline March 7, 2021
Priority Group One are Pell eligible students that meet all the criteria below;
- A verified FAFSA on file for 2020-2021 academic year and be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen,
- Enrolled in a Title IV eligible degree or certificate program,
- Have been enrolled in the spring 2021 semester as of January 19, 2021, or later,
- Be in an eligible status according to MVCC Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy; and
- Certify they have incurred expenses related to the coronavirus on or after December 27, 2020.
Students from priority group one can apply using the priority group two application if they do not meet the March 7, 2021 deadline.
After awarding group one, there were funds remaining to award for priority group two.
Priority Group Two- the group two application was made available on March 8, 2021 and the application deadline was March 28, 2021.
Priority Group Two are Title IV eligible students that meet criteria below;
- A verified FAFSA on file for 2020-2021 academic year and be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen,
- Enrolled in a Title IV eligible degree or certificate program,
- Have been enrolled in the spring 2021 semester as of January 19, 2021, or later,
- Be in an eligible status according to MVCC Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy; and
- Certify they have incurred expenses related to the coronavirus on or after December 27, 2020.
Students from priority group two can apply using the priority group three application if they do not meet the March 28, 2021 deadline.
If funds remain after awarding group two then funds will become available to priority group three.
Priority Group Three- If funds remain, the group three application will be available March 29, 2021 and the application deadline will be April 23, 2021.
Priority Group Three are students that meet the criteria below;
o Must have completed a 2020-2021 FAFSA and be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen,
o Enrolled in a Title IV eligible degree or certificate program,
o Have been enrolled in the spring 2021 semester as of January 19, 2021, or later,
o Be in an eligible status according to MVCC Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy; and
o Certify they have incurred expenses related to the coronavirus on or after December 27, 2020.
Priority Group 3 are FAFSA Completers with incomplete files.
As of April 9, 2021, there were no remaining funds to award to Priority Group 3.
On February 23, 2021, a mass email and text messages were sent to 2,704 students enrolled in spring 2021 who are in Priority Group I. Students were directed to complete the application sent to their student e-mail account. Students must complete the application to document their coronavirus-related expenses and, if they so choose, provide authorization to use funds to pay remaining spring 2021 tuition. The Financial Aid Office reviews and approves applications. Students who applied and did not meet eligibility guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Education and MVCC were provided information on other resources including scholarship information through MVCC Foundation and services offered through the Counseling Department. Full-time students are eligible to receive $2,000 and part-time students are eligible to receive $1,000.
On March 1, 2021, an email and text message reminder was sent to 1,198 students who have not completed the application.
On March 8, 2021, 878 students in Priority Group 2 received communications notices to complete the application.

Moraine Valley Community College (MVCC) has received funds from the federal government through the CRRSA Act, 2021 to help students offset expenses related to the coronavirus. Not all students who apply will receive funding; CRRSAA requires institutions to prioritize students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell grants. You may only submit an application once. Incomplete forms will not be processed. Please complete this application by March 7, 2021.
Students meeting the required guidelines for these CRRSAA HEERF II funds will be awarded between $1,000- $2,000, based upon enrollment status during the spring 2021 semester.

2. Enrolled in a Title IV eligible degree or certificate program,

You may use the funds for expenses related to the coronavirus. These might include paying for current tuition balance, food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and childcare. Because funding is limited, awards will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The CRRSAA HEERF II funds may be used to pay students’ current tuition balance. If you would like MVCC to apply your HEERF II funds to your student tuition account, please agree to the authorization on the application. If funds remain after HEERF II funds are applied to your student tuition balance, you may receive your remaining
funds via direct deposit. This is the quickest option to receive your funds. If not already enrolled, you can enroll for direct deposit here. If you are not enrolled for direct deposit, you will be mailed a paper check to the address on your student account, which may significantly delay delivery of your funds.

§ The Moraine Valley Community College Foundation has extended its scholarship application deadline to March 31. These scholarships, which are privately funded, are available for the spring 2021 semester and range from $500 to $5,000. Students can apply here.
