Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) II
Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), 2021

Dear FIRST.NAME,

Moraine Valley Community College (MVCC) has received funds from the federal government through the CRRSA Act, 2021 to help students offset expenses related to the coronavirus. Not all students who apply will receive funding; CRRSAA requires institutions to prioritize students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell grants. You may only submit an application once. Incomplete forms will not be processed. Please complete this application by March 5, 2021.

Students meeting the required guidelines for these CRRSAA HEERF II funds will be awarded between $1,000- $2,000, based upon enrollment status during the spring 2021 semester.

Eligibility criteria are as follows:

  1. A verified FAFSA on file for 2020-2021 academic year and be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen,
  2. Enrolled in a Title IV eligible degree or certificate program,
  3. Have been enrolled in the spring 2021 semester as of January 19, 2021, or later,
  4. Be in an eligible status according to MVCC Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy; and
  5. Certify they have incurred expenses related to the coronavirus on or after December 27, 2020.

You may use the funds for expenses related to the coronavirus.  These might include paying for current tuition balance, food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and childcare.  Because funding is limited, awards will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are eligible for the for the CRRSAA HEERF II funds, complete and submit the application sent to your student email.

The CRRSAA HEERF II funds may be used to pay students’ current tuition balance. If you would like MVCC to apply your HEERF II funds to your student tuition account, please agree to the authorization on the application. If funds remain after HEERF II funds are applied to your student tuition balance, you may receive your remaining funds via direct deposit. This is the quickest option to receive your funds.  If not already enrolled, you can enroll for direct deposit here.  If you are not enrolled for direct deposit, you will be mailed a paper check to the address on your student account, which may significantly delay delivery of your funds.

If you do not meet the CRRSAA guidelines above, the following resources are available:

  • The Moraine Valley Community College Foundation has extended its scholarship application deadline to March 31. These scholarships, which are privately funded, are available for the spring 2021 semester and range from $500 to $5,000. Students can apply here
  • The college’s Counseling and Career Development Center has also prepared the following webpage with additional campus supports and community referrals: https://www.morainevalley.edu/student-success/counseling/project-care/. Please note that some supports are limited to currently enrolled students.

We have developed a FAQ on the CRRSAA HEERF II funds here.
