On Nov. 3, 2026, Moraine Valley Community College will add a bond referendum to the ballot that will read:
Shall Moraine Valley Community College District No. 524, County of Cook and State of Illinois, build, equip, renovate and repair buildings of the District for programs including but not limited to: automation and engineering technology, fire science, emergency medical services, automotive, HVAC/refrigeration, and welding, and issue its bonds to the amount of $115,000,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?
The new debt issuance would replace the college’s current debt levy that is set to expire in December 2026.
Bond funds will enable the college to build, equip, renovate and repair buildings for career and technical education programs, which have experienced significant enrollment increases over the last five years, leading to capacity limitations and lack of permanent space to allow for continued growth.
Automation and Engineering Technology
This program prepares students for a career in production automation, robotics and industrial networking.
In the last five years, enrollment in this program has increased 36.8%.
The 10-year employment projection is 4.6% (2024-2034)*.

This program gives students who wish to become firefighters the education and skills required to be qualified for fire department initial eligibility lists.
Enrollment in this program has increased 14.3% in the last year and 25.8% in the last five years.
The 10-year employment projection is 3.4% (2024-2034)*.
A recent community engagement survey showed a +81% net favorability in supporting this program.
This program prepares students for careers as emergency medical technicians and paramedics in both public and private sectors. Students gain the knowledge and hands-on training needed to assess patients, provide immediate care and respond confidently in high-pressure situations
Enrollment in this program has increased 24.6% in the last year and 119.5% in the last five years.

This program offers students training needed to diagnose and repair vehicles. Moraine Valley’s program has achieved Master Automobile Service Technology (MAST) accreditation by the ASE Education Foundation, a nationally recognized accrediting organization and division of National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
Enrollment in this program has increased 4.0% in the last year and 63.5% in the last five years.

Students in this program learn to manage HVAC systems and refrigeration units while building a strong foundation in safety, energy efficiency and system performance.

Students are trained under the current industry, structural steel, pipe and pressure codes. This program is approved for dual enrollment, which allows high school students to take classes at Moraine Valley and earn college credit simultaneously.

The average associate degree graduate from Moraine Valley will see an increase in earnings of $9,000 each year compared to a person with a high school diploma or equivalent working in Illinois.
The present value of the benefits associated with an education from Moraine Valley will generate $16.6 million in savings to state and local taxpayers.
