Conversational Sign Language is now available as a noncredit course at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills.

Learn the basics of American Sign Language (ASL), which uses shapes, placements and movements of the hands, facial expressions and body movements, through a noncredit, personal enrichment class.

The course teaches beginners or those looking for a refresher on the basics of ASL for everyday use to communicate with family, friends or coworkers who are deaf or hard of hearing.

This 10-week course meets on Mondays beginning Jan. 28 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in Building B, Room B231. The cost is $145. Registration is required; the course code for this class is LN4-220-200.

For those looking to pursue employment as an interpreter, Moraine Valley also offers a 48-credit-hour certificate program in Sign Language Interpretation.
