Bassel and the Supernaturals, Mariela Shaker and Omar Offendum will perform “Songs for Syria” on Saturday, Nov. 20, 3 p.m., in the Moraine Valley Community College Fine and Performing Arts Center’s (FPAC) Dorothy Menker Theater, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills.

These three Syrian artists will pay homage to the history and culture of Syria, a country in the Middle East, using multiple musical genres, including classical violin, spoken word, neo-soul and funk, with captivating lyrics about love, loss and a war in that country that has directly affected more than 10 million people. Bassel and the Supernaturals is a music group that uses soulful melodies, funk-inspired rhythms and catchy lyrics. Mariela Shaker is a Syrian refugee and accomplished violinist. Omar Offendum is a rapper and poet known for his blend of hip-hop and Arabic poetry.

Tickets are $35 for the general public, $31.50 for members, $28 for veterans and active military, and free for students with an ID. Moraine Valley is following COVID-19 safety protocols for visitors on campus. See the latest information at morainevalley.edu/covid.
