Managing the movement of goods from point A to point B is critical to businesses and consumers alike. The need for workers certified in Supply Chain Management is growing, and Moraine Valley Community College is preparing students for this in-demand field.

“Today, more than ever, the flow of goods domestically and internationally is critical to the economic success of our region and country,” said Steve Pappageorge, Moraine Valley’s executive director of Corporate, Community and Continuing Education. “Today’s Supply Chain professionals must have a variety of skills – industry-specific and technical.”

Moraine Valley recently updated its Supply Chain Management certificate to best meet current industry needs. The Intro to Supply Chain Management Certificate now includes courses on Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel – tools professionals use to manage and analyze data. In addition, the college added Business and Business Law courses so students not only develop expertise in Supply Chain Management but also general business concepts.

Graduates holding the certificate will be well-equipped to enter the workforce in entry-level or trainee positions in the supply chain industry including, logisticians, cargo/freight agents, shipping/receiving clerks, transportation and distribution agents. and more. Those who are currently employed in the industry will gain enhanced professional knowledge desired for career advancement opportunities.
