The “Origin: Wondrous Worlds” exhibition by Ana Žanić will open the art season at the Robert F. DeCaprio Art Gallery in the Moraine Valley Community College Fine and Performing Arts Center (FPAC), 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills. The show runs Aug. 12 to Sept. 21, featuring a reception with the artist on Thursday, Aug. 28, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Žanić created a collection of watercolor paintings and ceramic objects reflecting her experience of moving from Croatia to the U.S. as a young adult. Her organic abstractions are reminiscent of imaginary, abandoned landscapes, ancient scribbles, notions of undersea life, amoebic flows and distant constellations. Elements of nature are ever-present in this creative universe.

Žanić has a Master of Fine Arts and Art Education from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. Her work has been displayed across Illinois, in various U.S. states and in Croatia. For more information on Žanić and her work, visit anazanic.com.

The gallery is free and open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets to FPAC shows, visit morainevalley.edu/fpac/tickets or call (708) 974-5500.
