Moraine Valley Community College will host open houses in August at its two neighborhood locations, the Education Center at Blue Island and the Southwest Education Center in Tinley Park.
The open houses will showcase the centers’ educational offerings, including a wide variety of general education courses and English as a Second Language classes. The Blue Island location also features high school equivalency classes and will offer two medical assistant courses for the first time this fall.
Open house attendees will learn about the support services available, including financial aid and academic planning assistance, and can tour the facilities. Staff will explain how people can get started taking classes near their homes or workplaces at the convenient centers. There also will be door prizes.
“We are excited to show people how convenient it is to take classes at one of our extension sites,” said Dr. Irronda Harrington, coordinator of the Education Center at Blue Island and Academic Outreach Scheduling. “Students will discover we offer great course offerings and all the support they need to be successful at both of our centers.”
The Southwest Education Center is located at 17900 S. 94th Ave. in Tinley Park. Its open house will be held on Monday, Aug. 7, from 3 to 7 p.m.
The Education Center at Blue Island is located at 12940 S. Western Ave. Its open house will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 3 to 7 p.m.
