The popular FitRec Kids Camp is offering a new option for kids to play and learn this summer at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills.
The Brain and Body Camp sessions offer a full-day camp that incorporates a morning of educational exploring and an afternoon of recreational activities. In conjunction with the college’s Corporate, Community and Continuing Education department, these educational sessions are being offered for three weeks – weeks of June 17, July 7 and July 22 – of the Kids Camp’s nine weeks.
These special camp options include:
Week of June 17: Time Travelers and STEM TechFit Camp
Students, ages 10-13, will participate in immersive, hands-on activities covering all aspects of STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. In the afternoon, students will travel through the past and future in recreational activities, exploring the land of dinosaurs and traveling to space. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $275.
Week of July 7: Super Cyclones and Superhero TechFit Camp
Students, ages 8-9, form a Fantastic Duo to build, program, and test a LEGO robot to perform a variety of fun missions. In the afternoon, students will wear the costume of their favorite hero or create one of your own and participate in super activities. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $275.
Week of July 22: Summer Safari and Circus Academic Fit Camp
This session for students, ages 5-7, covers fundamental skills such as matching letters and sounds, recognizing and writing the alphabet and math concepts in counting in a fun zoo learning environment. In the afternoon, students will turn into zookeepers as they learn about which animal is the strongest, the fastest or the friendliest. Pencils, crayons, scissors, and paste or glue are required. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $275.
Registration for the Kids Camp and the Brain and Body sessions is through the Health, Fitness & Recreation Center, Building H, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills. Registration occurs in person or online and closes the Wednesday before the start of the camp week.
