Moraine Valley’s NextGen Business Leaders Club is sponsoring the Young Entrepreneur Fair on Saturday, Feb. 7, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The one-day marketplace, located in Building M on the college’s campus at 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills, will feature entrepreneurs, ages 6 to 14, showcasing creative, handmade products and services. The fair is free and open to all.

The Young Entrepreneur Fair provides the opportunity for children to launch their own startup businesses. These up-and-coming business owners embraced the challenge of developing a brand, creating a product or service, building a marketing strategy and opening for customers at the one-day fair. The event will feature over 50 booths.

Students in the NextGen Business Leaders Club mentored the young entrepreneurs for the fair, which encourages creativity, innovation and financial literacy while giving children a practical introduction to what it takes to start and run a business.

Lisa Mittler, NextGen Business Leaders Club advisor and business professor at Moraine Valley, explained, “This event introduces children to the world of business while building essential skills such as communication, pricing, identifying a target audience and goal setting. This hands-on experience truly is priceless. NextGen Business Leaders Club and the Young Entrepreneur Fair are dedicated to inspiring our youth and developing important skills tomorrow’s business leaders need to succeed.”

The Young Entrepreneur Fair also is supported by Pet City, the Arab American Business Association, Acton School of Business and several donors and volunteers.
