A Moraine Valley student from Nepal has earned a full scholarship to the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and attributes his accomplishment to his community college.

Abhishek Ladsaria, who is from Kathmandu, will study Engineering Physics. The renewable scholarship includes full tuition, room and board, and books worth about $35,000.

“This scholarship is motivation for me to do better in the future. Moraine Valley has done a lot for me, and I’m excited to start a new journey at the University of Illinois,” said Ladsaria, a student employee in the Academic Advising Center. He plans to earn a master’s degree in electrical engineering and aspires to work for NASA or Boeing.

Ladsaria has been at Moraine Valley since fall 2014.

“He is not shy when it comes to helping the students who come into our office,” said Barb Kreczmer, department assistant in Academic Advising. “He is courteous and listens to them, and I know he will become a successful person.”
