Moraine Valley Community College will host an Earth Day Recycling Event on Friday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., on its main campus, 9000 W. College Parkway, in Palos Hills. Community members can bring prescription drugs, unwanted paper, electronics and lighting to Building D to be recycled for free.
At the Prescription Drug Takeback Day, in partnership with the Cook County Sherriff’s Department, Cook County residents can bring unused and expired prescription drugs to be safely disposed of. Liquid medication and sharps will not be accepted.
The Earth Day event will also feature a recycling drive and document shred-a-thon. Shark Shredding will have a shredding truck on site. There is a two-box maximum per vehicle allowed for shredding. Additionally, EverLights Lighting and Recycling also will be present. People can bring electronics they no longer want along with batteries, lamps, ballasts and intact mercury devices to be properly recycled.
