Award-winning a cappella group The King’s Singers will perform on Friday, Feb. 13, 7:30 p.m., at the Moraine Valley Community College Fine and Performing Arts Center’s (FPAC) Dorothy Menker Theater, 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills.

For more than 50 years, The King’s Singers have set the gold standard for a cappella singing on some of the world’s biggest stages. Renowned for their technique, musicianship, versatility, tight harmonies and captivating sound, the group’s rich heritage has allowed them to explore new and unique works, collaborations and recordings. Their extensive discography has led to two Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award and induction into Gramophone Magazine’s inaugural Hall of Fame.

In the last few years, the group has released three diverse, collaborative albums showcasing the breadth of their repertoire. One marks 400 years since the deaths of Renaissance composers Thomas Weekles and Wiliam Byrd; another celebrates the group’s body of commissioned music; and the final honors 100 years of Disney with nearly 30 new arrangements of songs from iconic films. The King’s Singers have commissioned more than 200 works by many prominent composers of the 20th and 21st centuries while advancing the global canon of choral music.

The King’s Singers formed in 1968 when six choral scholars from King’s College in Cambridge, England, gave a concert in London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. Since then, the group has included two countertenors, one tenor, two baritones and a bass singer. They consistently perform over 100 concerts worldwide each season and lead educational workshops and residential courses, working with ensembles and individuals on their approaches to group singing.
