The Academic Theater Department at Moraine Valley Community College will present “Heathers: The Musical,” Nov. 1-10 in the Dorothy Menker Theater at the college, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills.
Performances, based on the film written by Daniel Waters and directed by Dr. Craig Rosen, Theater Program coordinator, will be at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and at 3 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $15, $12 for senior citizens and $10 for children and students with ID.
Cast members include Seanra Duea, of Orland Park, as Heather Duke; Samm Hilger, of Worth, as Veronica Sawyer; Jarrin Commer, of Matteson, as Jason “J.D.” Dea; Michelle Pniewski, of Evergreen Park, as Heather Chandler; Natalie Cross, of Summit, as Heather MacNamara; Tommy Glodo, of Oak Lawn, as Ram Sweeney; Ja’Korey Higgs-Jackson, of Birmingham, AL, as Kurt Kelly; Rebecca Von Bruchhaeuser, of Chicago Ridge, as Martha Dunstock; Jessica Hartmann, of Tinley Park, as Ms. Fleming; Juan Castillo, of Tinley Park, as Ram’s dad and a member of the ensemble; Eric Wilder, of Calumet Park, as Kurt’s dad and a member of the ensemble; and Hallie Spolarich, of Chicago’s Beverly area, as Veronica’s mom and a member of the ensemble.
Additional members of the ensemble include Patrick Hamel, of Palos Hills; Shannon Madden, of Justice; Erica Mannella, of Alsip; Ryan Windle, of Tinley Park; Zach Furmanek, of Lansing; Leiana Carrasco-Ramos, of Chicago’s Humbolt Park area; and Olga Mourgelas, of Palos Hills; Eileen Somers, of Palos Heights; and Tara Lara, of Palos Hills.
Based on the classic 1969 film, the production showcases Westerberg High, a school ruled by a shoulder-padded, scrunchie-wearing clique: Heather, Heather, and Heather—the hottest and cruelest girls in Ohio. Viewers are warned this performance includes intense adult themes and is not appropriate for children. The presentation is made by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., a Concord Theatrical Company.
