Beginning Nov. 30, Moraine Valley Community College is waiving the placement test fee for the first 750 new students who complete testing. Placement tests are required for all degree-seeking students before registering for classes. Placement testing also may be required to satisfy specific course prerequisites.

Registration for the spring semester, which begins Jan. 19, is currently underway.

“Moraine Valley offers the best educational value around, but the temporary fee waiver is another way we can help new students get started,” said Dr. Jo Ann Jenkins, dean of Student Success. “The pandemic has had a disproportional impact on community college students, but Moraine Valley is poised to help. We’re also assisting low-income, first-generation and underrepresented students with tuition balances, technology and internet access, textbooks and more.”

All new students are eligible for the placement test waiver; however, it is limited to the first 750 students who complete testing. To get started, students first must apply to the college.

Students then will receive a Moraine Valley username and password, which is required to schedule a placement test. ACT/SAT scores may exempt students from testing. More info about testing, including hours, requirements and exemptions, is available on the college website.
