Moraine Valley Community College graduates who transfer to four-year schools are nearly unanimous in their regard to the college: They would recommend it to their friends.
Ninety-seven percent of the 2012-13 college transfer graduates responding to a Moraine Valley survey said they would recommend the college to their friends. The most highly rated aspects of the graduates’ Moraine Valley experience were size of classes, the variety of courses, the quality of instruction and instructor availability, and scheduling of classes.
The graduate transfer survey is conducted annually, and the results for more than a decade have remained consistent: 97 to 100 percent of the respondents would recommend Moraine Valley to friends, and the most highly rated aspects found in the current survey also have been consistently high over the past decade or so.
Off-campus sites—particularly the Blue Island Education Center and the Southwest Education Center—were the highest rated program/service followed by library services, lab equipment/supplies, computer services, clubs and organizations, the Academic Skills Center, Advising/orientation for veterans, and on-line transfer materials.
Eighty-two percent of those graduates surveyed had continued their education while 59 percent of the respondents were attending full-time, 11 percent, part-time, and 5 percent had graduated.
The most popular public transfer four-year schools were Governors State University, University of Illinois at Chicago, Illinois State University, and Northern Illinois University. The most popular private institutions were Saint Xavier University, Trinity Christian College, Lewis University, and DePaul University.
The most popular four-year college majors were health sciences and medical professions, business, social sciences, economics, psychology, and education.
