Moraine Valley Community College ranks first in the nation in associate degrees conferred in Multi/Interdisciplinary Studies (science transfer programs) and in the top 3 percent of the 2,839 public and private two-and four-year institutions nationwide that confer associate degrees, according to a national newspaper report.
The report, published in Community College Week, is based on an analysis of U.S. Department of Education data for the 2013-14 academic year.
“Our high national ranking is testament to the college’s outstanding efforts at increasing student success,” Dr. Sylvia M. Jenkins, president of the college, said.
That effort continued in 2014-15. Moraine Valley awarded a total of 2,954 degrees and certificates, a 44 percent increase over the past five years. The total number of degrees and certificates awarded by the college to date is 60,634.
