Moraine Valley Community College is hosting its 20th season of free Shakespeare Under the Stars performances with “King Lear,” from July 18 to 20, at 7 p.m., and July 21 at 5 p.m., on the main campus, 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills. The outdoor performances will be on the Gateway, between Buildings M and F.

This summer’s play by the Bard is a tragedy that follows the story of King Lear, who divides his kingdom between his two daughters who flatter him while banishing the youngest daughter who loves him but cannot voice it and is therefore misunderstood. He ultimately is rejected by the older daughters and goes mad. His banished daughter returns with an army to fight for him, but they later fall in battle.
