Music ranging from holiday selections and soulful blues to smooth jazz and classic favorites will be featured during concerts this fall at Moraine Valley Community College’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills. All concerts are free unless otherwise noted.

The Jazz Ensemble, to perform on Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m., will feature Liam Teague, professor of Music and head of steelpan studies at Northern Illinois University (NIU), where he also directs the NIU Steelband. Teague has won numerous competitions and is a published composer who has appeared in concert with Grammy Award-winning musicians. The concert will be held in the Dorothy Menker Theater.

Celebrating its 21st season, the Moraine Chorale and Chamber Singers will perform “Merry Christmas Music” on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m., in the Dorothy Menker Theater. Tickets are $15, $12 for seniors and $10 for students with ID and children. The group features the vocals of community members and Moraine Valley students.

The Moraine Valley Concert Band will present “Making Spirits Bright: Holiday Music and More” on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m., in the Dorothy Menker Theater. The group, made up of college students and adult community members, is in its 14th season.

Moraine Valley students and community members will play strings, winds, percussion, guitar and more at the Moraine Valley Jazz Combo concert on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m., in the John and Angeline Oremus Theater. The Moraine Valley Percussion Ensemble will perform “Holiday for Percussion,” on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m., in the Dorothy Menker Theater. Musical selections will highlight the sounds of holiday favorites via marimbas, vibraphones, drums, the timpani, trash cans, cookware, cowbells and more.
