Musicians looking for a quality orchestra need look no further than Palos Hills. The Moraine Valley Community College Orchestra is encouraging new members to join when it reconvenes this fall.

Community members and students who play wind instruments, percussion and strings, especially, are encouraged to join. The music repertoire will include classical compositions, contemporary works and lighter selections. The orchestra meets on Wednesdays at 7 p.m., starting Aug. 21 in Building F on the main campus. Their first concert is Sunday, Nov. 17.

Maryann Flock is taking over the group. She previously served as conductor and music director of the Fox Valley Philharmonic Orchestra and guided its youth program. She also commanded a number of other ensembles and is the founding director of the New Horizons Band DuPage.
