The Moraine Valley Community College Nursing Program received a No. 3 ranking for its Registered Nurse (RN) program and No. 4 ranking for its Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) program from Nursing Explorer, which published its latest rankings of the best-value nursing programs.

Nursing Explorer is a resource and database for students to research nursing schools and their corresponding programs across the country. It sources general institutional information from the Department of Education, a list of approved nursing programs from the state board of nursing, and accreditation information from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc.

Over 3,000 nursing schools were assessed and 1,721 were ranked across 45 states. Using the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) pass rate and net-price as its parameters, the final scores reflect the quality of education and affordability. A higher NCLEX pass rate and lower tuition earn a better standing.

Among 63 programs in Illinois, Moraine Valley’s RN program ranked No. 3, and its LPN program was No. 4. Moraine Valley offers an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing.

“The faculty have been working hard to get our NCLEX rate higher,” said Georgina Murphy, director of the Moraine Valley Nursing Program. “We are very proud of our program and our students. This validates to the public what we have known all along.”
