The Moraine Valley Community College Juried Student Art Exhibit showcases a number of artistic pieces virtually through Sept. 4.

This annual exhibit includes the work of students from a variety of humanities courses, including ceramics, digital photography, typography and digital imaging. The following students earned honors:

  • Jennifer Diaz, of Chicago, “Let’s Talk About Mental Health,” Digital, Best in Show
  • Aidan McGuire, of Mokena, “Road Less Travelled,” Photo, First Place
  • Ewelina Jurkowski, of Orland Park, “Emotional Hoppers,” Comic, Second Place
  • Joshua Cano, of Alsip, “Of the Sun and I,” Photo, Third Place
  • Griselda De La Mora, of Oak Lawn, “Alternate Realm,” Honorable Mention
  • Sarah Kauffman, of Orland Park, “Black or White?,” Ceramic, Honorable Mention
  • Erendira Evers, of Palos Heights, “Light and Heavy,” Agree to Degree Award
  • Ashley Nanoz, of Palos Hills, “Overgrown,” Drawing, Purchase Award

“Working through mostly online, remote classes did present some challenges. Our students were resilient and surpassed our expectations in adjusting to online learning as well as creating a range of inspired art and design work,” said Chris Matusek, coordinator and assistant professor of digital art and design.
