Moraine Valley Community College will host “Depression: A Closer Look,” on Thursday, April 25, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., in the Moraine Conference and Business Center, Building M, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Panelists Dr. Morris Blount, psychiatrist; Ron Czub, licensed clinical professional counselor and adjunct psychology instructor at Moraine Valley; Marianne Bithos, president of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI); and Nickolas Sundberg, NAMI advocate, will discuss biological foundations and symptoms of depression, diagnostic and assessment methods, contributing factors of depression and cultural considerations.
The group also will discuss treatment options, provide information about suicide and offer suggestions for families and individuals living with depression. A question and answer session for the audience will follow.
