Stock and modified cars from all decades will be on display at Moraine Valley Community College’s 3rd Annual Car Show on Saturday, Aug. 17, 5 to 8 p.m. The Automotive Technology department also will host an Open House during the show, and a “drive-in” movie will play at 8:15 p.m.
Cars will be parked in the lot next to Building T, which is just east of the 111th St. entrance of the main campus, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills. Spectators also will enjoy music, split-the-pot and drawings for prizes, and food vendors. The car show is free to spectators, but proceeds from the car show will support scholarships for Automotive Technology students.
Anyone interested in learning more about the Automotive Technology program at Moraine Valley can attend an Open House in Building T, Room T600 from 4 to 6 p.m. Guests can tour the auto lab and classrooms, and talk to faculty and current students.
“American Graffiti” (rated PG) will play on a large inflatable screen near the car show about 8:15 p.m. Guests can bring chairs, blankets and food for the movie.
Car enthusiasts who have any make or model car to display are invited to enter the show to win one of 45 trophies. First-place and runner-up trophies will be presented for stock and modified cars in each decade beginning with 1940. All cars made prior to 1940 will be judged as one category. Trophies also will be awarded for Best in Show, Veteran Owned, and Best Car, Truck, Antique, Classic, GM, MOPAR, Import and Ford Car.
Registration is $20 before Aug. 1 and $25 the day of the show. More details and registration can be found at morainevalley.edu/carshow or by contacting Patti Friend at (708) 974-5551 or friendp5@morainevalley.edu.
