Moraine Valley Community College is hosting a Fire Science/First Responder Career Day for high school students on Monday, Oct. 2, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., in Building T on campus, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills.

Students will learn about this trade through hands-on teaching and learning stations, including a forcible entry simulator, trying on firefighting gear, a thermal imager presentation, and fire hose handling and fire extinguisher training. They also will hear about firefighting and EMT classes and observe a side-by-side burn in sprinkler rooms, demonstrating the importance of smoke detectors and sprinkler systems.
