The welding industry is facing a shortage of 372,000 qualified professionals by 2026. To bolster awareness, Moraine Valley Community College is hosting the American Welding Society (AWS) Careers in Welding Trailer on Friday, Sept. 9, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., near Building T on campus, 9000 W. College Pwky., in Palos Hills.
The number of welders nearing retirement is greater than the supply of replacements. In an effort to build awareness of welding careers, the AWS is offering a chance to test out welding and learn about a career path in the industry. The 53-foot trailer is an interactive educational exhibit with five welding simulators, social media kiosk, scholarship information, and more.
