The Moraine Valley Community College Foundation will host its 39th annual golf outing on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Lemont. All proceeds will fund student scholarships. Last year, the event sold out, and the Foundation raised $38,000.
“This year, we believe raising funds for our students through the golf outing is more important than ever. Students are facing so many challenges due to the COVID-19 crisis, such as health concerns, job losses and new technology needs as they must take online classes,” said Kristy McGreal, executive director of the Foundation.
The Foundation has taken several steps to keep golfers safe while helping raise much-needed funds. “During the outing, we eliminated large group meals and instead are offering safer grab-and-go options for our attendees. In addition, we are changing our in-person awards ceremony to a virtual award ceremony on Oct. 8, and we are incorporating social distancing into all games and activities,” McGreal said. “We are excited to host our only in-person event in 2020, but we also are taking safety precautions very seriously.”
Tickets are $195 per golfer, which includes 18 holes of golf, and food and beverages throughout the day. The golfing will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
A virtual golf ticket, which includes 18 holes of golf and food vouchers golfers can use at their leisure at Cog Hill between Sept. 1 to Oct. 5, 2020, is a new option this year. The scores of virtual golf ticket holders and foursomes will be combined with all golfers for the virtual awards ceremony.
