Thanks to the generosity of residents in Palos Township, two truckloads of food have been donated to the food pantry at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills.
“I heard the pantry at the college was starting to run low, so we put out the plea to the township,” said John Coleman, chair of the college’s board of trustees. “We thought this would be a great place to donate.”
The donation, organized by Colleen Grant Schumann, Palos Township supervisor; and delivered by Gene Adams, highway commissioner, was received with much appreciation on behalf of the food pantry, which is overseen by Teresa Hannon and Shanya Gray, counselors at the college.
“What is really nice is that Palos Township recognized that many of our students are in need,” Hannon said. “We really and truly appreciate their generosity.”
