Enrollment at Moraine Valley Community College is flat this fall semester in comparison to last year at this time. Total enrollment at the college is 16,117 students (duplicated credit and noncredit) with 15,021 of those students enrolled in credit-earning classes.

Moraine Valley’s flat enrollment is a marked difference from the national trend of declining enrollments community colleges have been experiencing in recent years. A survey of community college admissions directors by “Inside Higher Ed” showed 88 percent of community colleges reported they were down in enrollment compared to two years ago.

“Considering the trend of declining enrollments for the past several years, this fall’s enrollment is a sign that numbers are beginning to level off at our college,” Dr. Sylvia M. Jenkins, college president, said. “Obviously, we welcome growth for the opportunity it affords to help our students reach their education and career goals.”
