Moraine Valley Community College is extending students’ spring break through March 22. All classes will resume on March 23 in an online format for a minimum of four weeks, ending April 19.
Currently, there are no known or reported cases of exposure to COVID-19, commonly known as the coronavirus, on campus, and no students or employees have tested positive for the virus. The move to online courses is precautionary.
While face-to-face classes will not be held, the college’s main campus in Palos Hills and locations in Blue Island and Tinley Park will remain open for business operations and student support services. Students needing access to support services or resources that cannot be had online may choose to receive them in person.
All college-sponsored events between now and April 19 are canceled; some events may be rescheduled. The college’s Fine and Performing Arts Center will communicate information about its shows directly with patrons. The Health, Fitness & Recreation Center is open and will communicate any changes directly with its members.
College officials have been monitoring the local situation with COVID-19 and are following all recommendations and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions, and state and county public health departments. The college has a high standard of cleanliness for its facilities but will continue to take additional measures to ensure a clean environment for the benefit of its students, employees and the community.
