Moraine Valley has been recognized by two international organizations for its excellence in financial reporting for the 19th consecutive year.
The Association of School Business Officials International awarded Moraine Valley with the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for excellence in the preparation and issuance of the fiscal year 2014 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada awarded Moraine Valley with its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
In a letter to Dr. Sylvia Jenkins, college president, John D. Musso, executive director of the school business officials’ organization, stated that the certificate of excellence “represents a significant achievement and reflects a high level of commitment to fiscal integrity.”
The government finance officers organization’s certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and “its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” according to the association. The report “has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story,” the association stated.
ASBO International, founded in 1910, is a professional organization of 5,000 members that provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices, professional growth, and the effective use of education resources. The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit organization serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
