Classes with an emphasis on safety and accident prevention are among class offerings this fall at Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills.

The Forklift Operator Training and Safety course provides formal training in the correct use and safe procedures of operating industrial forklift trucks powered by gasoline, electric, liquid petroleum, or diesel. The one-day class, course code MP5-120-002, is offered Friday, Sept. 14, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The class also is offered in Spanish, course code MP5-120-002, on Monday, Sept. 10, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Each class is $95.

The Aerial Work Platform Operator Safety Training class, Monday, Oct. 8, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., applies to scissors vertical lifting platforms and book lifts. Course code is MP5-122-002. The cost is $149.

Firearm safety, along with laws pertaining to ownership, storage and transportation of a firearm, are covered in the Illinois Concealed Carry course offered to those who already possess a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification Card (FOID). The two-day course provides 16 hours of training as required by the Illinois State Police for a Concealed Carry permit. The class will be held Friday, Sept. 28, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the main campus; and Saturday, Sept. 29, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at a gun range in Lombard. Course code is GN4-100-002. The cost is $299.

As part of the Nondestructive Testing Program, the Radiation Safety course provides initial classroom training for industrial radiographers to help establish industrial radiation safety barriers, select, set up and calibrate radiation safety equipment, and operate C-ray devices and other equipment to determine proper exposure levels. The one-week course is offered Oct. 22-26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Course code is ND8-112-001. The cost is $1,300.
