Moraine Valley came in at No. 37 among best value.
Moraine Valley is a great value for students starting their college education.
The college recently was ranked 37th among 1,717 community colleges across the country, according to Value Colleges’ ranking system.
Value Colleges surveyed two-year schools across the U.S. using data from College Measures, a database supported by the Gates Foundation. The significant criteria used was average to high graduation rates (more than 45 percent), costs under $10,000 per year, more than 1,000 students enrolled, and membership in the American Association of Community Colleges.
“Moraine Valley Community College’s commitment to student success, high quality educational offerings, focus on graduation and transfer and strong academic programs that lead to good paying jobs, all at an affordable cost, has led the college to become a Top 50 for Best Value,” Andrew Sarata, Director of Admissions and Recruitment said. “Moraine Valley Community College is not just an option, but a destination for students to begin their college journey.”
Of that nearly 2,000 list of schools, 614 made the initial cut based on the specified criteria and was whittled to 50 based on graduation/transfer rates, mid-level salary for graduates and actual tuition.
“With tuition prices at four-year universities on the rise, community colleges are an essential part of getting America’s workers, technicians and professionals the education they need at a price they can afford,” According to Value Colleges. “But there are a few reliable nation-wide surveys of community colleges, a problem that Value Colleges would like to correct. The Best Value ranking considers only regionally accredited institutions and ranks them according to our own formula.”
