The Moraine Valley Community College Foundation is accepting nominations for its 2019 Alumni Hall of Fame, created to recognize and honor alumni who have excelled in their professional fields, made an impact through volunteerism in their community or have made service contributions to the college.
Nominees must have earned a minimum of 30 credit hours at Moraine Valley and are eligible for consideration 10 years from the date of their last registered class. Completed nomination forms must be received by midnight on Sept. 30.
Those selected for the Alumni Hall of Fame will be honored at a reception Feb. 21, 2019, where they will receive their award.
“It was such a humbling and gratifying feeling to be recognized and be a part of a distinguished group,” said Dr. Jehad Matariyeh, a 2018 Alumni Hall of Fame inductee. “The induction is reflective of the hard work and dedication of the educators and staff at Moraine Valley who saw the very best in me.”
Matariyeh has volunteered for activities sponsored through the Foundation, was an adjunct political science and American history instructor and was an academic advisor at the college for a year. “I often return to teach a course when the opportunity arises as I love to give back to the institution that gave me so much,” he said. Matariyeh is the dean of students at Universal School in Bridgeview and teaches American history and American government.
