Cue the laughter as the Moraine Valley Community College Academic Theater Department presents “The Mel Brooks Musical: Young Frankenstein” Oct. 31 to Nov. 1 and Nov. 7 to 8, at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 2 and 9 at 3 p.m., in the Fine and Performing Arts Center’s (FPAC) Dorothy Menker Theater, 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills.
Comedy legend Mel Brooks adapted his humorous 1974 film for the stage. The story follows Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced “FRONK-en-steen”), the grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, after he inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchback sidekick, Igor (pronounced “EYE-gore”), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga, Frederick gets caught up in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. He brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather’s before hilarity ensues.
