Moraine Valley Community College 2018 graduate Jenna Kowalczyk has been named the first recipient of the Honors Program Transfer Scholarship as part of an articulation agreement between Moraine Valley and Elmhurst College.

Signed in 2017, this articulation agreement allows students to transfer into Elmhurst College’s Honors Program. Kowalczyk, of Evergreen Park, will receive a full scholarship.

“I’m so thankful for everything given to me,” Kowalczyk said. “As a college student, trying to figure out how you’re going to afford school is such a stress. This is a great opportunity, and now I can concentrate on my studies and not how I’m going to pay.”

Kowalczyk, who graduated from Moraine Valley summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA, has been an active participant in the Honors Program since her first semester at Moraine Valley. She said the Honors Program prepared her well for her future. “This program also allowed me to be more comfortable with myself in the classroom. Through the research papers and presentations, I feel like I have become such a well-rounded individual and can now offer more input into a conversation without hesitation,” Kowalczyk said.

“Jenna always has been an excellent student who was motivated, prepared and a team player,” said Alicea Toso, manager of the Honors Program and Curricular Learning Communities. “I couldn’t be more proud of her achievement at Moraine Valley, and I’m excited for her future successes at Elmhurst.”
