Moraine Valley Community College is seeking host homes within its district for international students who will be attending classes during the fall 2021 semester. Being a host home presents residents with the opportunity for cultural exchange.
Host homes must be located within a 15-minute walk to the campus in Palos Hills or along public transportation routes such as Pace bus lines #381, #385 or #379 as most international students do not have a car to get to school. Residents must own their homes and cannot be held to a lease. The home must have a washing machine/dryer on the premises, access to the internet and a private bedroom available to the international student.
Hosts range from all ages and can be single or a family. A student will be placed in a host home for a minimum of one semester. Those who are interested in hosting should have an understanding that new international students will need help and support as they adjust to living in the United States. Hosts receive $500 (no meals) or $700 (with meals) for rent each month from the student.
