Musical theater enthusiasts are invited to attend a free master class offered by the legendary Ben Vereen on Friday, Oct. 14, at Moraine Valley Community College.

Open to all, the master class will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Dorothy Menker Theater, inside the college’s Fine and Performing Arts Center (FPAC), 9000 W. College Pkwy., Palos Hills.

“Normally, master classes are not free. People pay good money for them,” Tommy Hensel, FPAC managing director, said. “This is an incredible opportunity, and I hope a lot of students as well as people out in the community will take advantage of this class.”

The class is being offered at no charge to the public thanks to the generosity of the Illinois Arts Council Agency.

The audience will watch and listen as Vereen teaches three advanced musical theater students, and they can ask questions of the actor/singer/dancer. At the conclusion, Vereen’s personal manager will speak on professionalism in the theater.
