Several Academic Music concerts are set for in-person and livestreaming performances over the next few weeks at the Moraine Valley Community College Fine and Performing Arts Center (FPAC). All of these performances are free and will take place in the Dorothy Menker Theater.
Jazz faculty members will present their recital, “A Jazz Elegy,” on Sunday, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m. The ensemble will pay tribute to the lives and contributions of recently departed jazz greats with uplifting and celebratory music.
The Flute Choir will perform “Haunted Flutes” on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. This unique group of varied sized flutes will explore flute music from a range of eras and styles.
The Moraine Valley Community Orchestra will perform their concert “Music by the Masters, the Next Generation,” on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 3 p.m. The orchestra will celebrate the classically infused dance music of Astor Piazzolla, honoring the anniversary of his 100th birthday. They also will perform music of thanksgiving and the holidays.
